Purpose Built Communities
WORKPLACE
Overview
Purpose Built Communities’ East Atlanta Village workplace was designed as a spatial reflection of the organization’s belief in growth, renewal, and the long-term power of community investment. Inspired by the concept of “Growing Communities,” the project transforms the workplace into a layered, hospitality-driven environment that prioritizes collaboration, creativity, and emotional connection through thoughtful materiality and neighborhood-inspired planning. Spaces, in collaboration with Square Feet Studio, led the design vision by guiding the PBC team through immersive strategy workshops, workplace planning, lighting direction, and material development. The resulting environment is organized around a collaborative core that branches into smaller pockets of focused work and social interaction. Warm stained concrete, green plywood millwork, cork detailing, textured fabrics, and muted pink-toned neutrals establish a soft, grounded palette designed to feel approachable yet elevated, balancing the values of a mission-driven non-for-profit with thoughtful stewardship and intentional materiality. Throughout the office, playful lighting fixtures, organic patterns, and murals by local artists introduce moments of vibrancy and personality that reinforce the organization’s mission and culture. Every detail was designed to balance responsible stewardship with elevated design, resulting in a workplace that feels inspiring, deeply connected, and built to support the people shaping communities across the country.
